Brazil’s President Michel Temer signed (on 13/12/2018) a provisional order that would lift limits on foreign ownership of airlines in the country. The measure gets rid of a 20 percent cap on the proportion of an airline that can be in foreign hands, allowing up to 100 percent foreign ownership. This order has an immediate effect but required congressional approval within 180 days to be permanent. It is undoubtedly an important measure for the Brazilian aviation sector and a great opportunity for foreign direct investment.
