Annual Statement of Brazilian Capitals Abroad 

 

The Brazilian capital kept abroad (*) must be declared to the Central Bank, annually or quarterly, according to the corresponding amounts.

 

This report is mandatory for individuals or legal entities resident, domiciled or headquartered in Brazil, holding assets abroad amounting to:

US$ 100,000.00, or equivalent in other currencies, as of December 31 of each calendar-year (Annual CBE);
US$ 100,000,000.00, or equivalent in other currencies, as of March 31, June 30 and September 30 of each calendar-year (Quarterly CBE).

Failure to present this statement, or presetation of incorrect, incomplete or false information, may result in fines from R$ 2,500.00 to R$ 250,000.00, which may be increased by 50% in some cases. Moreover, it may be considered a crime against the financial order.

 

(*) Brazilian capitals abroad are understood as values of any nature kept outside the country by residents in Brazil. They may be assets, rights, financial instruments, cash in foreign currencies, deposits, real estate, participations in companies, stocks, bonds, commercial credits, etc.

Filing deadlines:

 

  • For the annual declaration referring to the base date of December 31, 2018: from February 15 to April 5 of 2019;
  • For the quarterly statement referring to the base date of March 31, 2019: from April 30 to June 5 of 2019;
  • For the quarterly statement referring to the base date of June 30, 2019: from July 31 to September 5 of 2019;
    For the quarterly statement referring to the base date of September 30, 2019: from October 31 to December 5, 2019.
